Steghide is a practical steganography tool that supports JPEG images and has been widely used by end users. In StegoWatch it is separated from generic JPEG-domain families because it behaves as a recognizable tool/method combination in practical comparisons.
Use in tools
The current comparison treats Steghide as its own entry. This makes it easier to compare it directly with older JPEG-domain tools and with adaptive JPEG methods such as J-UNIWARD.
Detectability results
In the evaluated setting, Steghide is less detectable than Outguess and F5, but more detectable than the J-UNIWARD-based HStego entries shown in the comparison.
